DIPLOMA IN MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES (ECP)
Course Aim:
The programme equips learners with the relevant Mathematical knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to operate confidently in Applied Sciences. Graduates will be skilled with competencies in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Programming and Numerical Methods, and will be prepared to pursue their career choices through electives in Applied Science.
Opportunities:
Graduates can find employment in health laboratories, government departments, the biotech industry, environment and pollution control and monitoring, forestry and nature conservation as well as fisheries and marine management.
Admission requirements:
National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with:
. English: Home Language or First Additional Language (4)
. Mathematics (4)
Any one of the following subjects:
. Physical Sciences (4)
. Life Sciences (4)
. Geography (4)
. Economics (4)
. Accounting (4)
One other subject on level (4) and any two other subjects on level (3) except Life Orientation.
Subject to space, students may be admitted to the Extended Curricul Programme (ECP) if they have at least 40% (3) for Physical Sciences.
The department utilises an Admission Point Score (APS) as selection criteria once your minimum admission requirements are satisfied. You also have to score a minimum of 26 for the ECP on the APS.
