INTERNAL AUDITING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS
ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN INTERNAL AUDITING

Course Aim:
The programme is designed to equip students with competencies to identify and solve problems in functional areas, applying evidence based solutions and engagement in internal auditing. The graduates graduates will be able to:
1. demonstrate the competencies necessary to perform professionally in an entry-level internal auditing position;
2. plan and perform internal audits as deemed necessary within an organization, with specific focus on evaluations of systems of internal control, risk management and governance processes; Perform computer-based internal audits and auditing of information systems;
3. communicate verbally or in writing regarding internal audits performed;
4. demonstrate communication and interviewing skills to extract information and engage stakeholders;
5. solve analytical problems related to the improvement of financial, control or operational systems within an organization, and
6. operate within the given ethical framework of the IIA, practicing the ethics pertinent to an Independent Internal Auditor.

Careers opportunities are in the fields such as Compliance officers, Accounting officers, Cost and Management Accountants, Financial Information Systems Analysts, Internal Auditors, Risk personnel, Forensics etc

Admission requirements:
A National Diploma in Internal Auditing (or equivalent), aggregate 60% in the final year of study. HEQSF-aligned Diploma in Accountancy (aggregate 55% in the final year of study) or equivalent with pre-requisites of Financial Accounting 3 and Internal Auditing 3 (or equivalent) and Accounting Information Systems 2 (or equivalent). Graduates with an HEQSF aligned B Com degree or equivalent with requisite entry subjects can apply.
