ADVANCED DIP IN SPORT&LEISURE MANAGEMENT

Course Aim:
The aim of the qualification is to produce competent and professional managers for the sport and leisure industry.

Opportunities:
The sport and leisure industry is broad, with many varied career path prospects including, but not limited to the following:
• Manager or marketer of sports teams, and sports personalities;

• Manager or marketer of sport facilities;

• Manager or marketer of sport and leisure events;

• Manager or marketer of a gymnasium, sports/leisure club, association or union;

• Manager or marketer of recreation facilities and programmes;

• Adventure or leisure programmer;

• Sport promoter;

• Sport agent;

• Sport sponsorship manager;

• Leisure resort manager;

• Sport and leisure promotion officer;

• Sport retailer;

• Sport administrator;

• Sport liaison officer; and

• Project manager in sport and leisure.



Admission requirements:
Minimum admission requirements
Applicants need to have successfully completed an NQF level 6 (360 credits) qualification from a sport management related field. A relevant international qualification equivalent to an NQF level 6 will also be considered. Relevant qualifications from the General/Academic pathway, e.g., Bachelor’s degrees, will also be considered for access. A minimum of at least a 60% grade average for final year major subjects of the NQF level 6 qualification is required.

In addition to academic merit, industry relevant experience and sport industry involvement or participation will be used as selection criteria if needed.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Applicants not meeting the minimum entry requirements but who have relevant industry experience and formal or informal learning in related fields may be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to gain access.
