Course Aim:
The aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to enter careers as efficient and effective professional educators, and to provide them with a sound knowledge and background in the teaching of commercial subjects and mathematics at secondary schools.

Opportunities:
This four-year degree qualifies the graduate to teach secondary school learners in economic and management sciences, including subjects such as Mathematics,
Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Typing and Computer Technology, depending on electives chosen.

Admission requirements:
1. An achievement rating of at least 4 (50-59%) or better in four subjects from the designated subject list
2. At least one of these four subjects should be an official language of South Africa
3. An achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in another official language of South Africa
4. At least one of the languages in (2) or (3) above should be the language of learning and teaching at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology
5. Depending on the area of specialization of the B Ed FET, an achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in one of the following designated subjects:
a. Mathematics
b. Physical Sciences
c. Life Sciences
d. Information Technology
e. Accounting
f. Business Studies
g. Economics
h. Consumer Studies
i. Mathematics Literacy
6. The Faculty reserves the right to institute a further selection procedure, for example via an interview with the prospective student.
