Course Aim:
A person achieving this qualification will be a competent architectural technologist who can conduct relevant routine technical research and under supervision perform architectural services in construction, detailing, design and administration in the public and / or private, sectors in the built environment.". After two years of candidacy a professional practice exam is written, leading to registration as a professional who may work independently.

Opportunities:
There are two routes that a diploma graduate can follow. One is to apply for the BTech Architectural Technology (Applied Design) .
and the other is to enter the professional workplace as professional architectural technologist, as described above.The architectural technologist is responsible for the application of construction technology in the architectural design process. The main activities associated with this field are the production of drawings, detailing, presentation of drawings, model making, site supervision and monitoring, elementary planning and design work, liaison with clients, engineers, municipalities, quantity surveyors and contractors. Entrepreneurial skills and experience enable the professional architectural technologist to competently handle small to medium size work independently.
