POSTGRAD DIPLOMA IN SUPPLY CHAIN MNGT

Course Aim:
The aim of this qualification is to extend and deepen the knowledge, understanding of Supply Chain, exposing business professionals (learners) to a higher level of theoretical cognitive engagement, as well as intellectual independence, for business and non-business learners.

Opportunities:
The Postgraduate Diploma in SCM is designed to meet industry needs in supply chain in all the sectors. This qualification is imperative as the programme will address the transformation of HE in SA. This programme widening of access to previously disadvantaged students, racial and gender inequalities, promoting employability of students to contribute the economic and societal needs of the country, etc. It is also important to refer to the needs of stakeholders (e.g. employers, professional bodies, etc.) and the needs of the target student profile. Furthermore, this programme contributes to regional and national goals by facilitating capacity building and personnel development in SCM at a specialist level to improve organisational performance.

This qualification will build up and develop learners’ abilities to analyse and evaluate the current and predicted international and local practices and trends in SCM with reference to accepted SCM principles. Furthermore, the qualification will develop learners to be able to evaluate advanced SCM integration strategies across different companies and make recommendations for improvement in line with current trends and practices. The learners will be able to demonstrate research and information processing skills, conduct applied research on complex problems in SCM and present the research finding to relevant stakeholders, develop a strategic management framework for supply chain management in a business environment, and to build up the learner with the ability to critically analyse an appropriate research issue on the subject of supply chain management.



Admission requirements:
An appropriate HEQSF aligned Bachelor’s Degree or an appropriate Advance Diploma at NQF level 7, or equivalent qualification of an approved SAQA NQF level 7 or a Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in a business or non-business discipline. The candidate must have passed subjects related to business studies as well as finance. A candidate will be considered for admission to this qualification if he/she is in possession of an appropriate pre-HEQSF BTECH (NQF level 7) or Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in a Business or non-business discipline at NQF level 7. Candidates may also be admitted through a process of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - an instrument that accredits the acquired knowledge, competencies and capabilities of a person, gained through informal and non-formal learning.
